WHAT a way to start a birthday bash, with supermodel Kate Moss flung over your shoulder!

That's how Virgin Atlantic boss Sir Richard Branson kicked off the company's 25th birthday celebrations this week.

Virgin Atlantic recreated the first flight to New York that departed on June 22, 1984, ending with a party in Manhattan.

Branson was joined onboard by frequent travellers and a host of special guests including fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, cricketer Kevin Pietersen, former Liberty X singer Jessica Taylor, as well as Sir Ian Botham and Christopher Biggins, who was a passenger on the first Virgin Atlantic flight. Universal Vacations President Gary Young is pictured here with two of his children Harry and Olivia alongside Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson in the Virgin Clubhouse at Londons Heathrow airport.

And while Virgin's hard-up competitor British Airways are asking employees to work for free for a month, Branson's airline are confident about their future growth, ordering ten airbus A330-300 aircraft to be delivered in 2011.

The new aircraft will have USB ports at every seat and passengers will be able to send and receive emails and texts in flight.
